News from Orleans

January 30th 2008

Dear praying friend,

We are thrilled to say that the Lord is faithful having experienced his faithfulness day in and day out throughout 2007.  Thanks for your prayers and we trust that you will continue to pray during this New Year as we endeavour to live to the glory of God.  The end of the year was such a blessing to us in so many ways let me share with you.

First of all, it was an honour to have our two oldest boys with us home from college and what a blessing they were to the church folks.  In December we hosted a youth day and several were helped by the conversations and the messages brought by our young Bible students: one French and our two sons.

Second of all, we had a great Christmas program with one first time visitor.  We were thirty around the tables for a great meal.

Third of all, I have been in contact with several people from our past that we were able to lead to the Lord. 1) Terry our old neighbour from Etampes, I met his wife in a restaurant and she told me that her husband needed to talk to me. He was depressed and struggling so we met twice and he is doing much better reading his Bible and the pastor there has contacted him so hopefully he will take over from there.  What rejoiced my heart was to hear him testify of his salvation. 2) I bumped into a couple, who confessed the Lord Jesus 2 years ago during a home Bible study with me, in down town Orleans.  Their son, who is going through some difficult times runs a business in Orleans and they called saying they are planning on bring him to church with hem Sunday for our anniversary celebration see below. 3) Didier Cadau is now attending a good church in the south of France and this is the first time since we left that he has found a church home. This is so thrilling to me.  Our trip to India together was a great help to him.  He is in India now, if you would pray for him, he would appreciate it. 4) Serge from Montauban with his family is now attending regularly the church in which we ministered back in 1991.  He came to see me 5 years ago and prayed to trust the Lord. They have promised to come and visit us for the last week end of the month of February. 5) Olivier a young man that I led to the Lord in 1997 is being convicted of his lack of pursuing his relationship with the Lord.

Now back in Orleans:

We were able to distribute 40 scripture calendars, and it is a great blessing to keep in contact with the ones that are reading them daily.  One of our neighbours is the second in command of the city is reading the calendar every day and even gave us a painting she made with a scripture verse on it.  Another neighbour told us what a blessing it was for her to read every morning and then meditate on the verse all day.  Today I talk to an 80 year old man who says he fights with his wife to see who can read it first.  All these are signs that remind us that God’s Word is in homes this year that didn’t have it last year.  God’s Word will never return void.

This coming Sunday we will celebrate the anniversary of our first meeting as a church.  We are planning on having a record attendance and several new visitors are planning to be with us.  Pray for me as I begin a series on the Church and that the Lord will allow me to present the gospel clearly.

Grateful to represent you here,

Pete
